How does the connection between writing and reading play out in classrooms? While we often teach a skill in reading and then apply it in writing, there is a lot of power in flipping that order. As teachers we can make intentional, meaningful connections between writing and reading to increase reading comprehension. By explicitly teaching skills to our writers, we can easily model how that same skill can be applied as readers.

Her passion and enthusiasm for student-centered learning is apparent in everything she does. She has had many roles in education such as Kindergarten and Second Grade Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Instructional Coach. She is currently serving as Interim Assistant Principal at Westfield Intermediate School in Westfield, Indiana.
