In this workshop participants will learn to support K-8 mathematicians with inquiry-based strategies that extend beyond the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

– Learn to identify and write 14 types of problems that form the basis of Common Core and Indiana College and Career Ready Standards.

– Understand three distinct developmental levels that students progress through as they move from concrete comprehension to abstract reasoning.

– Develop multiple strategies for meaningful assessment and grading.

– Broaden math experience to make connections to number sense, early algebra and other essential concepts.

Led by Ryan and Courtney Flessner, professors of math education at Butler University and IUPUI respectively, these workshops combine research-based practices with real-world classroom expertise.
