Digital Profiles

Process and Crafting Digital Profiles

It is important for your teaching to focus on both craft and process issues when thinking about audio recording and taking photographs.Students will think about the work that the audio and video do separately to tell the story of the digital profile.  They will need to learn how collect quality voice and gather ambient sound; how and where to hold the microphone; and a setting for conducting an interview that is conducive to the work they are trying to do.  They will also learn about decisions they might make in regards to audio that they include in their digital profiles.

When thinking about the visual aspect of the digital profile students will need to think about the roll each photograph will play in telling the story.  They will think about setting the scene with photographs, details in photos that help tell the story and how a photograph can set a mood or tone for the story.  Students will also need to think about having a variety of types of photography to create interest for their audience.

(A list of photo vocabulary and a photo bingo game are included below.  These are recommended to be used on day 17 of the unit.)
